It is not necessary that the actor should know or have reason to know that such intermeddling is a violation of the possessory rights of another.”). Suppose, for example, that a defendant nonnegligently cremates what is to all reasonable appearances a dead person, but it turns out to be a mannequin owned by a plaintiff. The defendant has committed trespass to chattels and conversion.
